This location worked well because we had the desert landscape and also a pavilion to work under.  I like exploring new places and this Senior guy was comfortable and easy going with trying different poses.  His mom called the close up of him looking seriously at the camera, his “Rico Suave” face!  I try to get a serious expression with each Senior I photograph, because the eyes are more open and you can see texture in their lips.  His eye color shows up more, blue with a little bit of tan around the middle.  I like the color portraits, but the black and white are my favorites!  The bright sunny morning gave these portraits lots of contract, which makes for great black and white photos.

This Boulder Creek High School Senior is very accomplished academically and active in sports.  He’s a well-rounded individual and is going to double major in college!  Impressive!

We went over to the Anthem Community Park for these portraits and I felt that the cooler toned background went well with the bright red cap and gown.  We tried a bunch of different poses with the cap and gown and the superman shot, where he announces where he is going to college, is my favorite!
